$29 Million Hospital on Time and on Budget
"zumBrunnen and its Senior Project Manager, Dan Williams, were a key member of our Project Team and provided us timely support and approval of the Contractor pay applications. The communication was excellent and was one of the reasons that the project was completed on budget and on schedule. The monthly reports were an excellent chronology of the project. Dan was a pleasure to work with."
Highland Hospital is a psychiatric healthcare facility established in 1955 in Charleston, WV. In 2011, they moved forward in constructing a $29 million, four-story, state-of-the-art replacement hospital. To ensure a smooth project process, Highland Hospital hired zumBrunnen to provide pre-closing document review and to perform monthly construction monitoring visits for the 73,000 SF 98-bed behavioral health facility that was constructed adjacent to the original hospital.
Through close coordination and cooperative teamwork, the project was completed within budget and on schedule. The project’s success is partially attributed to prompt payments to the prime contractors, which encouraged the contractors to meet all milestone dates in the schedule.
To help expedite the process, zumBrunnen, in conjunction with the project team, signed certificates for approval of payments on the day of the site inspection. Dan Williams, a Senior Project Manager with zumBrunnen, also issued the client’s monthly construction reports promptly (within days), and sent a draft of the report to the client for review and approval prior to the report being formally issued. This level of enhanced project communication helped resolve project issues in a timely manner that kept everything in budget and on schedule.
